NEW-ZEALAND 0 - 1 NETHERLANDS

Norway 4 - 0 Thailand

Four-star Norway outlast brave Thais.
Norway began their 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup™ campaign in confident fashion with a 4-0 win over debutants Thailand in Ottawa. The match was, as expected, dominated by the experienced Europeans, yet it was the south-east Asians that could have netted five minutes into their first-ever game. However, Silawan Intamee just failed to make the contact she needed from point-block range after a burst of speed down the right flank from Kanjana Sung-Ngoen.

Thailand received a boost of sorts with a quarter of an hour remaining as goalkeeper Waraporn Boonsing made a smart save to block Maren Mjelde’s penalty awarded for handball.
The War Elephants even came within inches of a goal after hitting the crossbar with a long-range speculative effort in the final minute.

Côte d’Ivoire 2 - 3 Thailand

Bericht van luugtaw op vr 12 jun 2015 - 6:08

After jumping out to a quick 1-0 lead, Côte d’Ivoire allowed three unanswered goals before scoring a late consolation as Thailand secured a historic 3-2 win, marking the first points the Asian side have recorded at a FIFA Women’s World Cup™.

Côte d’Ivoire started brightly, finding their way onto the scoresheet only four minutes into the match. After a scramble in the middle of Thailand’s penalty area and a couple of failed clearances, Ange Nguessan got the last touch with an acrobatic finish to find the back of the net for Côte d’Ivoire’s first-ever goal at the Women’s World Cup. Despite the early lead, Thailand slowly began to assert themselves into the match and their hard work paid off before too long.

Anootsara Maijarern played in a good ball into the path of the on-rushing Orathai Srimanee who did well to volley past Dominique Thiamale, good for Thailand’s first-ever goal in the competition. A minute into first-half stoppage time, Ines Nrehy had a wide-open goal to tap into to give Les Elephantes the lead, but she mishit her effort, which crashed off the post and away from danger.

Côte d’Ivoire would rue that missed opportunity as Thailand took the lead with a well-crafted goal on the stroke of half-time. An inch-perfect cross found Srimanee – who celebrates her 27th birthday tomorrow - unmarked in the middle of the area and her snapping header rattled off the underside of the crossbar, which goal-line technology confirmed was indeed a goal.

Thailand substitute Thanatta Chawong scored a scrappy goal after a defensive miscue between Thiamale and her backline to make the three points safe, despite Josee Nahi setting up a nervy finish after making it 3-2 with a brilliant solo run through the middle of the Thai defence and a calm finish past Waraporn Boonsing. Les Elephants hit the woodwork for a third time on the night in the final minutes and Nguessan nearly equalised on the last kick of the game but the scoreline stood firm in Thailand’s favour.

Live Your Goals Player of the Match: Orathai Srimanee (Thailand)

De Thaise dames wonnen voor het eerst een wedstrijd op het wereldkampioenschap. Ze versloegen de Afrikaanse dames met 3-2. Thanatta Chawong maakte het winnende goal.

Thailand 0 - 4 Germany

Bericht van luugtaw op di 16 jun 2015 - 5:12

Germany reached the Round of 16 with relative ease after a low key first half, beating Thailand 4-0 to claim top spot in Group B at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™.

The Europeans were quick to attack Thailand’s goal, and if it was not for the heroics of goalkeeper Waraporn Boonsing, Siliva Neid’s side could have run away with the game from the early stages. Melanie Behringer took an early shot to test Boonsing, but she safely parried the ball away, and defender Natthakarn Chinwong headed the subsequent corner kick off the line to keep it scoreless.

Thailand nearly broke free at the other end 20 minutes in. Kanjana Sung-Ngoen capitalised on a rare mistake from the German backline and the No21 raced towards goal with a quick counter-attack but she slowed down and was only able to force a corner kick, which did not result in much for the War Elephants.

Melanie Leupolz broke the deadlock four minutes later with a looping header off a corner kick, which snuck past a Thai defender on the far post to give Germany the lead. But Thailand remained resolute in their defending and Boonsing made save after save, including denying Celia Sasic twice just before the break to send Nuengrutai Srathongvian’s team into half-time still very much in the match.

However, the floodgates opened for Germany ten minutes after half-time as Lena Petermann made it 2-0 and then 3-0 in a space of two minutes, both goals coming from the substitute’s head. Sara Daebritz finished the scoring with an easy tap in after she was left unmarked by the Thai defence on the back post.

End of the road for THAILAND
